You will explore the interrelationship between immigration policy and the criminal justice system, including mass incarceration, prison privatization, and the demonization of immigrants. The course will draw from media and popular culture, focusing on recent and longer histories of legal traditions and attitudes towards both crime and immigration. Coursework and materials will enhance your historical conceptualization, critical cultural analysis, political interpretation, writing and reasoning.
