Scholarships & Awards

American Studies Undergraduate Research Award

In addition to the more than 350 scholarships and awards offered by the College of Arts and Sciences, we offer an undergraduate research award to the best senior thesis in the American Studies senior seminar (A450), typically taught in the spring. The award will be made in the amount of $400, annually.

The recipients for the spring 2018 award are:

  • Grace Branham “The Ruination of Riot Grrrl: A Retrospective Analysis of Media Response”
  • Caro Oates “Queer Black Women Being Visible: Creating Visibility of Queer Black Women in The Watermelon Woman and Pariah
  • Gabby Krieble “How to Win Subscribers and Influence Them: Inside the Empire of New Media Moguls”

Wells Scholars Program

This program, established in the memory of the late Indiana University Chancellor Herman B Wells, ranks among the most competitive and prestigious awards offered by any American university.

Other scholarship & award opportunities

High achieving students may be recognized for Academic Honors in the College of Arts and Sciences, or be eligible for admission to the Hutton Honors College.
