The Department of American Studies condemns racist violence against Asian and Asian Americans. As a department, we are committed in our fight against the racist structure of white supremacy that continues to threaten the lives of not only Asian and Asian American, but also BIPOC students and faculty in and outside of the classroom.
Undergraduate students can pursue a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies, or choose from one of our many minors. Graduate Students can pursue a Doctoral Degree in American Studies or choose a variety of minors to complement any area of study.
American Studies courses explore a wide variety of fascinating and relevant topics, often having a profound impact on your worldview. Examples include race in American art; immigration and the criminal justice system; U.S. movements and institutions; popular music; and more.
We encourage our students to think outside of the box. We challenge them to be innovative, free-thinkers who are prepared to meet the challenges of our interconnected world. And, we prepare them with translatable skills that are applicable across a wide range of professions.
